Thomas Achermann studierte Jazz an der Musikhochschule Basel (Lehrdiplome für Altsaxophon und Gesang 2001). 2001 gewann er den Friedl-Wald-Preis in der Sparte Jazz. Der Preis führte ihn nach New York, wo er bei seinen Vorbildern New York Voices und Datevik Howanessian studierte. In seiner Karriere arbeitete er mit Theater‑, Pop‑, Rock‑, Jazz- und Schlagermusik. An der Europapremiere der Oper «Bobble» trat er als Gesangssolist mit dem Weltstar Bobby McFerrin auf. 2016 bis 2017 studierte er Chorleitung an der Musikhochschule Basel. Seit 2002 unterrichtet er an der Musikschule Binningen-Bottmingen und der Musikschule Jazz am Jazzcampus Basel.
